5 – Turbo

Lizzie Oseman, from Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, has nominated her horse Turbo as one of our Hero Horses. She says he is one of the kindest souls on the planet. Despite his enormous size and muscle, he is calm and gentle at all times and imagines so many war horses were like him, strong enough to pull guns through that dreadful mud and kind and noble enough to do their very best for their masters away from home in the most testing of conditions.

She tells us "He has been an incredibly successful show horse, he has won at the most prestigious shows across the UK for the last decade, to name a few; The Royal International Horse Show x3, Royal Windsor, Royal Three Counties, Royal Cornwall, Bucks County, Surrey County, Rutland County, Devon County, Wales & West, Bath & West, North of England Show and the South of England Show, competing at the Horse of the Year Show for 10 consecutive years.

I have owned Turbo for 11 years and this year he also competed at Olympia, gaining third place in the hotly contested Senior Showing and Dressage League finals. No atmosphere is too big for Turbo! He is a very well known and popular horse!

CAVALRY CONNECTION: Lizzie Oseman's grandfather fought in both world wars

So many time’s he has been referred to as the War Horse, due to his kind nature, bravery, his strength and his noble manner. Your charity is close to my heart as my grandfather (pictured above) was in the cavalry and fought in both the first and second world wars on horseback.

Turbo has a great social medial following, My small children ride him, as well as my father in his late 70’s. Turbo wears his purple poppy with pride each November and he even featured in the Horse and Hounds magazine wearing his, as he has also been a Horse &Hound cover star. Thank you for adding Turbo to the hall of fame. This is such a great honour for him and us."
