Chance to join exclusive event in state rooms as intrepid Chelsea Pensioner Roy heads down the home straight after 1,000-mile fundraiser

Rare and exclusive places are available to visit the grand State Rooms at the Royal Hospital Chelsea. There you can enjoy Afternoon Tea and celebrate as Chelsea Pensioner Roy Palmer completes a 1,000-mile bike ride in joint support of The War Horse Memorial and the London home of his fellow residents.

Prince William has added his good wishes to Roy’s quest on his static bycycle as it reaches the halfway stage. The 87-year-old received a letter from the Prince of Wales complementing him on his “ inspiring challenge” and wishing him well as he heads towards the home straight of his epic ride.

Throughout, Roy has been promoting his hope for a more peaceful world by carrying a special lamp which will be lit on November 11. The Lamp Light of Peace is an initiative from Pageantmaster Bruno Peek LVO OBE OPR to encourage people of all ages, faiths and backgrounds to hope for a more peaceful world free from war and conflict.

“The heatwave has made it hard going but hopefully the weather will be cooler from now on, said Roy. “I am determined to finish what I started. I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have supported me so far, particularly with the cost of living challenges we are all facing.”
