Tweets from the Trenches: Little True Stories of Life & Death on the Western Front. We are delighted that Canadian author Jacqueline Carmichael has included her own personal tribute to Poppy our War Horse with a picture of her unveiling in her new book Tweets from the Trenches: Little True Stories of Life & Death on the Western Front, which is available from good book shops and Amazon on Friday (September 7, 2018). It follows her odyssey deep into the dugouts of World War I military history … this is a post-modern collage of poetry, tweets, historical documents, and photographs ... she considers the horror and the heartbreak of World War I in a creative and deeply personal way, exploring the stories of the heroes -both sung and unsung - the soldiers, the nurses, and their families through the experiences of her grandfather George “Black Jack” Vowel, a farmer from Oklahoma and later Alberta. We were approached by Jacqueline, respected journalist, in June after she had read about the unveiling of our national monument on June 8 in Ascot. We are honoured that she wanted to feature Poppy in her book which is being acclaimed as a masterpiece of “exceptional power and emotion” by her fellow Canadians.Tweets from the Trenches: Little True Stories of Life & Death on the Western Front available from Amazon UK here ...
