All Saints Church Ascot
A service of dedication and remembrance was held on Sunday, August 25 in the beautiful parish church in Ascot, just a short walk from where Poppy, our War Horse stands on her island sanctuary at the top of the High Street. Father Darrell Hannah conducted a special mass inside the beautiful 19th century church, which was attended by Councillor Samantha Rayner, deputy Leader of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Alan Carr, co-Founder of War Horse Memorial reflected on the service and sacrifice of animals in war, and afterwards laid a purple poppy wreath alongside Father Hannah at Poppy’s feet while the congregation looked on from the nearby Area of Reflection. Alan’s two grandson’s Freddie and Will wore their pin badges with pride and another special guest was one of our newest supporters, June McDermott, who travelled from Leatherhead for the service. We are indebted to everyone who took time out this Bank Holiday weekend to support our cause.
