Our supporters deliver great start to 2026 for The Horse Trust with £1,500 donation

AT HOME: Quaker enjoyng life and companionship at The Horse Trust in Princes Riseborough.

As the year begins, and because of your continued support, we are helping The Horse Trust finish building a new home for more horses like Quaker (above) who are in their care.

Sales of our pin badges and knitted poppies over the past months have meant we are able to donate £1,500 towards a warm shelter with food and  medical care.

You may remember Quaker, the brave Cavalry horse whose story captured hearts across the world. After being spooked during a training exercise and injured in London’s busy streets, Quaker went to the Horse Trust, the oldest horse charity in the UK, to rest and heal.

This Christmas was his first as a permanent resident at this wonderful sanctuary in Princes Riseborough, Buckinghamshire, where he is able to enjoy open fields, gentle companionship, and the simple joy of just being a horse.

Since 1886 hard-working equine public servants, who have served our nation in the Army, the Police, or with charities which use horses to help people, have found it a safe place to enjoy their later years. It’s also a sanctuary for horses, ponies and donkeys who have suffered from cruelty or neglect and who are in desperate need of specialist treatment and care.

Jessica Tillman, Director of Fundraising, says: “On behalf of everyone here at the charity can we thank your supporters at the War Horse Memorial. The sale  of badges and knitted poppies have been able to help us provide Quaker and his friends with food, care and shelter.”
